LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday ordered at least three government agencies to present tax, loan default and utility bill records within the next 24 hours.

The orders, passed by a full bench headed by Justice Ijazul Ahsan, directed FBR, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) to submit in electronic form records of over 1,000 candidates whose appeals are pending before election tribunals in the province.

The decision to seek the record came after Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) representatives told the bench that the commission had been provided the relevant record in document form only. As a result, no electronic record of the contestants had been prepared by the ECP so far, informed the commission’s lawyer.

The court observed that electronic copies of all records should be made available for scrutiny and ordered the quarters concerned to do the same within 24 hours.
