Reviving sick units: Committee formed to suggest measures

KARACHI: The Export Processing Zone Authority (EPZA) has constituted a committee comprising EPZA officers and entrepreneurs that will propose measures for reviving closed industrial units in the Karachi Export Processing Zone. The body was formed in a meeting, chaired by EPZA Chairman Mohammad Saadat Cheema and held to suggest steps to promote investment in the export processing zones. Meeting participants agreed that simplified rules and regulations would be laid for a speedy revival of closed units. The EPZA chief, while saying that the interest of investors is growing in the export processing zones, stressed that rehabilitation of sick industrial units would strengthen Pakistan’s economy.
