District and Sessions Judge Nazir Ahmed Ganjana on Monday summoned the prosecution’s witnesses at the next hearing of the dual nationality cases against former PML-Q MNA Begum Shahnaz Sheikh and former PML-N MPA Rana Asif Mehmood on April 23.
The court had dismissed their acquittal applications in the previous hearing. The election commission’s Punjab office had moved the court against Mehmood and Sheikh for being dual nationals. The court was requested to initiate legal proceedings against them for withholding this fact from the election commission.
The court had directed the National Assembly to recover all payments made to them for holding public office.
