ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has sent back former President Pervez Musharraf’s full bench request with an objection, Express News reported on Saturday.

Former President Pervez Musharraf’s lawyer, Ahmed Raza Kasuri had requested for a full bench excluding Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry for the hearing of the alleged treason case on Saturday.

The chief justice was to hear the case as head of the bench, however, he removed himself from the bench hours before the Supreme Court was to take up a petition seeking high treason proceedings against the former military on April 8.

A two-member bench was formed– comprising of Justice Jawwad S Khawja and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain – to hear the petition filed by Advocate Taufiq Asif, the president of Rawalpindi chapter of the Lahore High Court Bar Association.

Five identical petitions were heard for him to be tried for high treason and subversion of the Constitution.

Interior Ministry officials confirmed that Musharraf’s name had been placed on the Exit Control List and that a circular had been issued to all exit points, including airports.

Musharraf ended his four-year self-imposed exile and returned to the country last month, intending to contest the upcoming polls but has instead found himself faced with a plethora of challenges.

@Adeel: Thanks Adeel but did he really give us Indians a hard time? No let me tell you he was the easiest to deal with. You will be surprised but he has a great following in India Just like Shahrukh Khan has a great following in Pakistan both entertainers of the highest Calibre. One playing the 'Mein hoon na ' role the other 'Mere siva koi bhi Nahi' Let us leave these petty things aside and think about the future my brother The Rulars of both India and Pakistan the way they are hoodwinking the grass roots need to be taken to task and believe me justice will be done. Now I am telling you 'Hum hein na'. You and me. And one billion like us on the sub continent. Regards and God Bless Viren Naik
