The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Friday announced its candidates for the upcoming election for the province of Balochistan and Thatta district.
The PPP announced 11 candidates for its National Assembly seats in Balochistan along with 50 provincial seat candidates.
While announcing the names of candidates in Balochistan, provincial president Mir Sadiq Umrani said that PPP was a party of ‘jiyalas’ who were ready to render sacrifices for the supremacy of democracy and democratic values. “We are contesting the elections based on our previous performance. We hope that the masses will not disappoint us,” he said.
Candidates who will contest for the National Assembly seats on PPP tickets include former city mayor Maqbool Lehri from NA-259, Quetta and former federal minister Sardar Umer Gorgaij from NA-260 Chagai.
Separately, a list of candidates who will contest the elections from the district of Thatta was also made available to the media.
According to a statement released by the PPP, Sadiq Ali Memon, will contest the elections for NA-237 and his mother, Shamsun Nisa will be his covering candidate. The NA-238 seat candidacy has been allotted to Arbab Ramizuddin Memon.
Meanwhile, tickets for PS-84, PS-85 and PS-88 have been allotted to Hameed Soomro, Sassui Palijo and Ovais Muzzaffar, alias Tappi, respectively.
The candidates for Karachi and Thatta had been, however, withheld on that occasion. A spokesman said that the candidates for Karachi and the rest of seats where their candidates have been disqualified will be announced soon.
