ISLAMABAD:

Manifestos of all political parties are nothing but sham and mere rhetoric as far as the women issues are concerned.

Rights activist, Tahira Abudllah, said this at a round table talk at the Heinrich Boll Stiftung, Islamabad on Friday.

Manifestos of almost all political parties came under scrutiny at the discussion.

“These political parties have done nothing to empower women and to eradicate gender inequality,” she said

She came down hard on leading political parties, which, according to her, lacked women representation in their policy making decisions.

She said that only the manifesto of the Pakistan Peoples Party has discussed women in the mainstream society. “The PPP has boldly discussed Talibanisation, killing of Salman Taseer which no any other party has dared to mention.”
