PESHAWAR:

Students of government and private medical colleges of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) on Friday threatened to protest if they were not given grace marks in the community medicine subject of fourth year MBBS.

They demanded of Khyber Medical University (KMU) to review the result and take the issue seriously otherwise they would stage a protest demonstration on Monday in front of the university.

Addressing a press conference at Peshawar Press Club, Jawad Mohmand, a student of KMU, said that 1,143 students of private and government medical colleges across the province had appeared in the examination.

Out of these, 534 had failed while 609 remained successful.

He added 500 out of 534 failed students of all the medical colleges which is nearly 50 per cent of the total had been failed in the community medicine subject, which he dubbed as unjust.

Flanked by Wajid, Hamidullah, Farhan Ali and Ikram of Ayub Medical College, Saidu Medical College and Jinnah Medical College, he said students of the all the colleges were in protest as they rejected the result.

“The paper was out of course and all the questions were related to postgraduate level course,” he said. Furthermore, he appealed the K-P governor to take action against the KMU examination cell.

Moreover, he demanded of KMU to give 15 grace marks to the failed students in the said subject to reduce the percentage of failed students.
