Amjad Ali Kol was convicted of raping and strangling a woman, before stealing her money, the ministry said in a statement carried on official news agency SPA.
His beheading brings to 33 the number of people executed in Saudi Arabia since the beginning of the year, according to an AFP tally.
In 2012, the kingdom executed 76 people, according to an AFP tally based on official figures. The US-based Human Rights Watch put the number at 69.
Earlier this year, Saudi Arabia beheaded a Pakistani man in the eastern Khubar province after he was convicted of drug trafficking, the interior ministry announced.
Rape, murder, apostasy, armed robbery and drug trafficking are all punishable by death under Saudi Arabia's version of Shariah, or Islamic law.

@heera: "@Abid P. Khan: Once this exemplary punishment has been meted out, there will be no rapes in the world. Then why do saudis behead 80 people each yr and there is no reform at all." . Within minutes after your comment appeared, I sent a clarification message saying that my statement was meant to be ironic. The irony was lost. So has been, on sharia imposers too, for the last 1400 years.
For whatever reason my post has not been published yet!!!
I can bet a million if this was some American or British, He would walk out free. These rules are just for poor muslim nations. Pakistan govt should play tit for tat in this case.
I dont know why some people come out and actually start defending the rapists and other criminals! Every country has right to have whatever law they like. Dont like the law of land, just dont commit the crime, Simple!
Being rish doesnt mean you commit the crime and pay the price and get away with it if the family doesnt accept blood money, i dont think it applies to drug or rape cases!
Just because Saudia has Sharia Law and they are stick to it, international media and some seculars are presenting each and every activity of Saudia as crime. whether it is Capital punishment or capture of illegals. That guy was punished and i am sure he must have faced sharia council. Some one said in above comments that u dont have translators and bla bla, HEYYYY grow up it is capital punishment we are talking about not mobile theft case :S Grow up!!!! secondly and most important if you are not getting justice it is the responsibility of your state, I have been to few places in world and i cant explain how peaceful and secure one feel in Saudia. And ofcorse they give priority to saudis in everything(which is little unfair) but it is the same story in all other countries.
Assuming that the defendant truly was guilty -- and that is quite possibly not the case -- this is a satisfactory outcome. Unfortunately, few jurisdictions give enough attention to the crime of rape.
The only way to end the outrageous pattern of officially-tolerated rape is for women in India, Pakistan and many other countries to band together, capture and punish the rapists by castrating and whipping them. There is no other way to put things right.
This should be done in Pakistan too. The day this would happen is Pakistan, number of crimes would reduce by 90%
This is a very good thing to do these ppl deserve it. Because of this saudi arabia has one of he lowest crime rates in the world if u ever bothered checking the stats. And those of u saying tht saudis dont get punished, I myself witnessed 6 saudis getting executed for conducting several armed robberies in a southern city.
@iqbal: If blood libel is about justice why libel money is different based on gender and religion?
@1984:
And you are ASSUMING they are offering him with this option?? Kudos to all people liking your comment based on shear assumption..!
@iqbal: @Aschraful Makhlooq: So basically every life in a sharia ruled country has a price...and if you're rich you can do whatever u want and pay the money....
Now I know why the calls for Sharia in Britain,Denmark,France dont have any effect....
@1984 imagine your/mine brother or sister being murdered and what are the chances that we accept the blood money ? reason must be if our brother or sis being extremely bad for you/me or we are extremely poor . On both cases it seems that even blood money providing the justice .
@ABC: For your kind informations Allah Almighty has given us the punishments of severe sins and crimes 14 years ago and this is not Saudi Arabian government's barbaric law but these are the Quran's and Sunnah's laws and just due to these strict Quran's and Sunnah's laws in UAE and Saudi Arabia the ratios of crimes and sins are very very very less/low than any other countries most especially importantly than USA,India and other advanced European countries of the world and Quran's and Sunnah's laws are equal for every one without any prejudices,differences and discrimination to be implemented.......
"@1984:Doesnt that same Sharia allow you to go free if u’re ready to pay the blood money???" yes you are right but provided that if the victim is ready for blood money with its intentions and without any pressure.....
Saudi law is barbaric. I'm not saying that rapists and murderers should not be punished but the way Saudi's operate their justice is terrible. Foreigners especially desi's have no worth in their system. In some cases they don't even provide lawyers or translators to people accused. Imagine not being able to speak Arabic and having your entire case being heard in that language without a lawyer. Basically if you are a Pakistani over there and go to jail, you are not getting out no matter what. However if this was a white American convicted of something; they won't ever think about punishing him.
@Parvez:
thats aload of bakwas. back up ur claims. quote us the facts. crime rate in saudis is relatively very low.
Saudis execute a large number of persons every year yet the crime rate does not fall, and is at about the sme level as in other similar countries who do not execute people. The crimes happen because there are reasons for them not because of nature of punishments.
@Abid P. Khan: Once this exemplary punishment has been meted out, there will be no rapes in the world. Then why do saudis behead 80 people each yr and there is no reform at all.
@Final Solution: "I was fed lies that Rapes don’t happen in Saudi Arabia and that they only occur in the west....."
Once this exemplary punishment has been meted out, there will be no rapes in the world.
@1984: Only if the family of the victim settles for it.
@ali:
that poor thing was a rapist and a murderer. last year they beheaded millionaire saudi on the count of molesting and killing a child.
@1984 Not in case of a rape.
How many Saudis have been executed, or lets ask an even better one, how many westerners have been executed. Poor thing, only if he had a canadian citizenship instead of pakistani one, he would be alive like Kohail brother murder case
I was fed lies that Rapes don't happen in Saudi Arabia and that they only occur in the west. Come to think of it Saudi Arabia is towards West of Pakistan too.
@Muslim: Doesnt that same Sharia allow you to go free if u're ready to pay the blood money???
What is the person was innocent and framed to protect a Saudi ???
good precedent being set. should be applied all over the world.
The Poster country for Muslims?
thumbs up to Sharia......thumbs up to Saudi for enforcing it......
Good Riddance
