SIALKOT: Dozens of people on Thursday blocked a road during a demonstration against police for allegedly manhandling two women during a raid on their house.

The demonstrators said that Muradpur Sub-inspector Murtaza Cheema had led a raid to the house of a widow, Robina, and beaten the inmates.

They said two women’s clothes were torn in the beating. Some relatives of the women demonstrated in front of the Sialkot Press Club on Thursday.

Some of the demonstrators tried to burn themselves but were stopped by onlookers. The demonstrators carried placards inscribed with slogans against the police.

The demonstrators dispersed after the police high-ups assured them of an enquiry and action against those found guilty.
