RAWALPINDI:

The Rawalpindi bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday directed the trial court to submit complete record of Benazir Bhutto (BB) murder case within one week.

The division bench comprising Justice Abdul Sami Khan, and Justice Ali Baqar Najafi, passed the order in response to an application filed by Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) which has challenged the fresh trial of BB murder case after the return of former president Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf.

On April 1, the Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) had rejected FIA’s application seeking separation of Musharraf’s trial from other accused being tried in the BB murder case. The court had decided to start fresh proceedings into the case following Musharraf’s return, as he had been declared a proclaimed offender in 2011.

The former president, who was accused of involvement in the assassination of Bhutto, had failed to appear before the court despite repeated summons.
