KARACHI:

Hub Power Company (Hubco) demanded the government to release payment of outstanding dues Rs19 billion of the Narowal Power Plant. The 225-megawatt (MW) power plant located in Punjab was completely shut down due to non-availability of oil.

We are unable to run the plant due to our inability to procure oil. We request the government to clear the dues so that we can play our part in bridging the gap between energy demand and supply by operating our plant on an immediate basis.

Zafar Iqbal Sobani, CEO of Hubco said that while we appreciate the appointment of Dr Musaddaq Malik as the minister for water and power, we also hope that he will take concrete steps to solve the issues being faced by the independent power producers (IPPs).
