Policy proposal: All party conference on education planned

Participants will sign a declaration pledging to promote education.

MULTAN:

The Institute of Social and Policy Sciences (ISAPS) is all set to hold an All Parties Conference here on April 11, a month before the general elections, to secure political parties’ commitment to promoting education, particularly 100 per cent enrolment at schools. 

The participants, including politicians, would be asked to sign a declaration to be finalised after discussions at the conference.

Altafullah Khan Nasooha, a former local government director is now working as an ISAPS coordinator in Multan, said that ISAPS research in five districts- Multan, Lahore, Faisalabad, Rajanpur and Rawalpindi- aimed at assessing development needs for promoting education and devising a strategy for expanding access to education.

He said the conference aimed at political advocacy and outreach support for transforming education in Pakistan.

Nasooha expressed concern over the alarming situation regarding school enrolment saying that Pakistan would take another five decades to reach 100 per cent enrolment if the current trends persisted.
