Virat Kohli led from the front, smashing an unbeaten 93 off just 47 deliveries to help Royal Challengers Bangalore register an emphatic seven-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL) yesterday.

Kohli hit four sixes and 11 boundaries, helping Bangalore overhaul a competitive 162-run target in the 18th over. The right-hander, who came to the crease with his side at 39 for one, led the reply with a barrage of boundaries that made his partners look pale in comparison.

Kohli contributed 93 off the remaining 123 runs with the next highest contribution coming from opener Mayank Agarwal (29).

Earlier, Thisara Perera cracked a 24-ball 40 and Cameron White made a quickfire 52 to lead his team to a decent total. RP Singh was the pick of the bowlers for Bangalore with three for 27.

Kohli, named man of the match, was pleased with his effort. “The guys can be really proud of the way we played today,” said Kohli. “After the last game, I told the guys not to lose their head, it was a good game. There was a calm energy in the dressing room.

“160 odd was a good effort by our bowlers and it was a par score and I am glad that we chased it down.”
