Off to the polls: 507 nominations accepted for 13 NA seats in Lahore

Returning officers have disqualified 50 candidates for the National Assembly 81 for the provincial assembly.

A total of 507 nomination forms of candidates for the National Assembly and 1,210 candidates for the provincial assembly from Lahore constituencies have been cleared by returning officers.


As many as 575 nomination papers had been submitted for seats to the National Assembly and 1,312 for the Punjab Assembly. Returning officers have disqualified 50 candidates for the National Assembly 81 for the provincial assembly. 18 candidates for the National Assembly and 21 candidates for the provincial assembly withdrew their nomination papers.

The nomination papers of several politicians including Nawaz Sharif (NA-119 and NA-120), Shahbaz Sharif (PP-161, PP-159 and NA-129), Humayun Akhtar Khan (NA-123, NA-130), Imran Khan (NA-122), Akhtar Rasool, Saeed Elahi, Khawaja Salman Rafique, Naseer Bhutta, Mehmoodur Rasheed, Ayesha Ahad Malik (NA-119), Hamza Shahbaz Sharif (NA-119 and PP-142), Makhdoom Javed Hashmi (NA-121, 122 and 126), Bushra Aitzaz Ahsan (NA-124), Kashmala Tariq (NA-124 and NA-125) and Hamid Khan (NA-125) were accepted.

The nomination papers of Ibrarul Haq (PP-147, PP-155 and NA-125) and Syed Asif Hashmi (PP-138 and NA-118) were among those rejected. The nomination papers of former minister Imtiaz Safdar Warraich were rejected from NA-98 in Gujranwala.
