Transparency International Pakistan has called upon the Supreme Court Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to take suo motu action against the delay in passport deliveries.

In a letter addressed to the chief justice of Pakistan, the TIP requested him to take notice of the “inordinate delay in providing passports by the passport office, interior ministry.” It also called upon action to be taken against the “delay and corruption”.

“Transparency International Pakistan is striving for across the board application of rule of law, which is the only way to stop corruption,” the letter stated.

TIP’s request was based on a news story published in Dawn.

I have been waiting for my 5 years old sons passport for the last 3 months and am stuck here due to this. Everyone asks for money but I don't trust anyone anymore. I have met the deputy as well as the director himself at the Lahore Garden town office but all I got were false promises or telling me to go to HQ in G8 Islamabad personally to get this thing resolved. Mine and my whole familys future is at stake due to this but I don't see any way by which I can get this thing resolved. Is there really any hope left or only the influencial can get their work done here anymore?
