LAHORE:

The Pakistan Peoples Party has rejected a proposal by the caretaker chief minister to allow Basant kite-flying in the provincial metropolis and its adjoining cities. In a statement issued here on Sunday, Lahore PPP Information Secretary Abid Hussain Siddiqui demanded that the caretaker government not allow Basant. He said Basant had degenerated and become a dangerous activity which had claimed several lives in the past in Lahore and other cities. He said the PPP was not against sports activities but it could not support any activity which could cause deaths and chaos in the society.
