Control blood pressure: DUHS holds awareness campaign

The blood pressure and Body Mass Index (BMI) of 121 people was recorded during the two-hour-long campaign.

The students of Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) arranged an awareness campaign to spread awareness about the harmful and fatal effects of high blood pressure for the patients and doctors of Civil hospital, Karachi (CHK) on Saturday. 


The campaign had been organised in keeping with the theme of ‘Control Your Blood Pressure’ chosen by WHO which is celebrating its 65th anniversary this year. The blood pressure and Body Mass Index (BMI) of 121 people was recorded during the two-hour-long campaign which was organised by a student run society at the university titled ‘Serve Our Civil Hospital Welfare Association’. The test results showed that an alarming 29 per cent patients were pre-hypertensive and 21 per cent were hypertensive.
