DERA ISMAIL KHAN:

Unidentified men killed a public schoolteacher near Malana Link Road, Syedabad, a Gomal police official told The Express Tribune on Sunday.

Ihtisham Ali, son of the deceased told police his father, Syed Ijaz Hussain Shah, went to water the crops on Saturday evening and did not return. The family tried to contact him on his mobile phone but did not receive a response. When they started looking for him, they found Shah’s body near Link Road. He had been shot in the head.

According to the Gomal police, the family of the deceased had stated it had no enemies. Shah belonged to a Shia family, but the motive behind the murder will be found after the police investigation is complete, the official said.

Shah’s family said sectarian violence has not been reported in their area in the past.
