LAHORE:

Increased police presence will be ensured at sensitive polling stations during the elections. This was stated by Rai Muhammad Tahir, the deputy inspector general (Operations) on Saturday.

Rangers might also be called, he said. Tahir said police officers – from SHOs to SPs – might be transferred to ensure better policing and fair elections. He warned candidates and their supporters against brandishing weapons during elections. Such actions, he said, will not be tolerated and action will be taken against those flouting the rules.
