Attacked: Constable gunned down by militants

Siddiqur Rehmanwas on his way home when unidentified men intercepted him and opened fire.

NOWSHERA: A police official was gunned down by unidentified suspected militants in Misri Bandha on Saturday. Mukhtiar Ahmad, an official of the Akora Khattak police said initial investigations revealed Constable Siddiqur Rehman, who was on duty near Darul Uloom Haqqania, Akora Khattak, was on his way home when unidentified men travelling on a motorcycle intercepted him and opened fire. The official said according to an eyewitness, two masked men armed with guns opened fire at the constable, causing him to fall to the floor bleeding. “Passers-by rushed him to the DHQ,” he explained, adding doctors at the hospital declared the constable dead. “We are investigating the case and have not registered it as yet” the official said, adding the body is in hospital for autopsy.
