The Election Commisson of Pakistan (ECP) disqualified former Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader, Faisal Saleh Hayat and politician Syeda Abida Hussain son, Abid Imam, from contesting elections on Thursday, Express News reported.

Hayat was contesting as an independent candidate, while Imam submitted his nomination papers as the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) candidate.

Imam, who was contesting election for the first time, had filed an application against Hayat which resulted in the disqualification of Hayat, who had been winning seats from his constituency without fail.

Earlier the same day, ECP had rejected the nomination papers of Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Ayaz Amir for writing articles “against the ideology of Pakistan”.
