ISLAMABAD: Deputy Commissioner Amer Ali on Tuesday said cameras would be installed at all entry points to the federal capital in a bid to curtail crime. During the first phase, cameras will be installed at Golra, Satra Meel, Faizabad, Rawal Dam Chowk and Koral entry points, he added. The decision was taken primarily to control the rising number of carjackings in the city. Auto-thieves use these routes to escape the city. The surveillance cameras will be operating on a 24-hour basis. This is a low budget, hi-tech solution to the problem of crime undertaken by the Islamabad Capital Territory’s IT team. Work is expected to commence on Monday.
