RAWALPINDI:

Around 10,000 vouchers will be issued to poor and deserving students between the ages of five and 16 years to enable them to continue study up to matric level in the schools of their choice.

This was said by Punjab Education Foundation Chairman Raja Anwar on Tuesday. The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) will launch the 10th phase of its Education Voucher Scheme (EVS) in 28 different districts in Punjab next month. The districts have been selected on the basis of poverty rate and educational backwardness. With this extension, the total number of EVS beneficiary students will be raised to 150,000 students in the province.

The PEF Chairman further said that EVS has emerged as the most beneficial programme for giving totally free education to deserving children in a very congenial atmosphere. At present, partnerships have been made with low-cost private schools in 235 poor localities in Punjab to educate children who could not otherwise access it, he said.
