LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Tuesday directed the Kallar Kot station house officer to produce a married woman before the court, as her husband filed a habeus corpus petition alleging that she was being illegally detained by her uncle, an assistant commissioner.

Petitioner’s counsel Mazhar Ali Ghallu told the court on Tuesday that the woman had wed Ibrar Ahmad on December 21, 2012, but without her family’s consent. He said that on March 20, 2013, members of her family invaded the petitioner’s house and abducted his wife.

The counsel said his client’s wife was in the illegal custody of her maternal uncle, Abbas Nasir, who was assistant commissioner of Kallar Kot. He asked the court to recover the woman so she could live with her husband. Justice Ali Baqar Najafi directed the Kallar Kot SHO to bring the woman to court on April 4.
