
Presiding over a high-level huddle on security, Khan asked law enforcing agencies to take all necessary steps to ensure implementation of Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) Code of Conduct in “letter and spirit.” He added intelligence agencies should apprise candidates of any possible threats.
Regional police officers also briefed authorities of their respective regions over the law and order situation in the province in the wake of elections. All quarters were directed to keep a close watch on illegal Afghan refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs) and non-locals residing in their areas.
Participants of the meeting expressed concern over the increasing number of target killing incidents in the province and directed law enforcement agencies to formulate an effective strategy to control it.

Divisional and district intelligence committees were also recommended to hold regular meetings, keeping the police and local administration in the loop regarding any updates.
Justice (retd) Tariq Khan reiterated his resolve to hold transparent elections in a peaceful atmosphere and said the provincial government will employ all available resources and provide the required facilities to law enforcement agencies for the purpose.
Minister for Home and Tribal Affairs Fayaz Khan Toro, K-P Chief Secretary Ghulam Dastagir, Inspector General Police Akbar Hoti, Secretary Home and Tribal Affairs Azam Khan, Additional Inspector General Masood Afridi, Additional Inspector General Akhtar Ali, CCPO Peshawar Imtiaz Altaf and all regional police officers of the province attended the meeting.
