Kohat: Militants injure police official

The militants managed to escape.

KOHAT: A police official was severely injured when unidentified militants opened fire at him in Jungle Khel area of Kohat around midnight on Saturday.

Iqbal Khan, in-charge of Jungle Khel police said that Hawaldar Mehmoodul Hassan was on duty at Sheri Wallah checkpoint when he stopped two suspected militants for checking, but, the militants shot him twice with a pistol. Khan said that large contingents of police reached the site and started a search operation.

The militants, however, managed to escape. The injured official was taken to the Kohat Divisional Hospital where doctors referred him to the Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar due to his critical condition. Khan added that a case was filed against unidentified militants.
