KARACHI:

Following a two-day stay at Bilawal House in Karachi, President Asif Ali Zardari jetted off to the UAE on Saturday.

Sources said the president held a meeting in Karachi regarding distribution of party tickets in  Ghotki, Sukkur and Nowshero Feroz.

The local leadership of PPP in these districts have launched protests against the PPP for the way it has allotted national and provincial assembly seats. President Zardari has asked his sister Faryal Talpur to resolve the matter. In Ghotki, party leaders have opposed the ticket given to Ali Gohar Mahar, who only recently joined the party.

Former federal minister Khursheed Shah had applied for a national and provincial assembly seat, but preferred the latter, but the PPP decided otherwise. This irked the local leadership of Sukkur.

PPP’s Sharjeel Inam Memon, however, refuted reports of resentment among the party leadership over ticket issues. He added that the party’s parliamentary board would allot tickets to deserving candidates in Sindh.
