LAHORE: Police will deploy over 1,500 personnel to guard the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl rally at Minto Park today (Sunday), at which they expect some 50,000 participants. Media reports said that mobile phone services in the period before and after the rally may be suspended, but SP Security Abdul Ghaffar Qaisrani said that this had not been decided yet. The SP said that there would be four entrances, one for VIPs and three for the general public, to the venue. Participants would enter through a walkthrough gate and would be frisked. There was no separate entrance for women at the rally, since none were expected to attend, he said. Security would be supervised by 35 SHOs, five DSPs and two SPs, he added.
