Raids in Lyari: Gangster killed in alleged encounter

One Rangers personnel was injured while eight alleged gang members, including an injured Abdul Rehman, were arrested.

KARACHI: An alleged gangster was killed and eight others were arrested during an exchange of fire in Lyari on Saturday. The deceased, identified as Aqeel aka Aqeel Commando, reportedly belonged to Lyari’s notorious gangster group of Baba Ladla. Police said that the deceased was recently made commander for Saifi Lane in Lyari in replacement of the alleged gangster, Rashid Rekha, who was killed during an encounter with the Rangers last month in Kharadar. Aqeel was killed when the Rangers conducted targeted raids in Lyari. One Rangers personnel was injured while eight alleged gang members, including an injured Abdul Rehman, were arrested.
