MQM US wing filed the petition.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) US wing on Saturday presented a memorandum in the United Nations (UN) against delimitations in Karachi.

According to a statement from the party, the memorandum has been filed by MQM central organiser in the United States Junaid Fahmi.

The memorandum lists MQM’s apprehensions over the recent delimitations in Karachi announced by the Election Commission. It added that the delimitations was a conspiracy to usurp the mandate of the people and that illegal and extra-constitutional means were being used to suppress the MQM.

The memorandum urged the international community to use its influence for holding of free and fair elections in Pakistan.

Wont the UN find it difficult to understand how come a British national is heading a political party in Pakistan?

what you think of the intention of ECP.I think Karachi will remain a stronghold of immigrant community. You guys have always condemned the religious extremism and there is price to be paid for that in a intolerant society.

In pashto we used a proverb”Chi kom Zai dai na gareegi hagha Har za ma garwa”mean where there is no rash don’t rub it every where” MQM always internationalize nationals issue. Make non issue an issue. One man one vote also mean proportional representation. Than the karachi people should be allow to Vote to parties not to person than it will be clear how many men vote to Mqm

i had great hopes from imran but i could not understand the seat arrangements with parties like JI.PTI would have won majority on its own as the pakistani yuths see a ray of hope in PTI but now i feel imran is set to loose his ground to PMLN which will lead to a waste of historic opportunity as PML takes ordres from RIYADH.Best wishes to imran from BHARAT

@Naveen @PTIMardan It’s sad for me. The MQM in its current Muttahida form really has a good grassroots approach, they believe in merit and education rather than family ties or acreage and don’t suppress women but rather see them as equals in work and family. They are also left leaning religiously and prefer to keep religion a sacred but personal matter. I probably agree more with their manifesto than I do with Kaptaans.
Still, I would vote for PTI this time because I don’t agree with the ‘darker’ side of the MQMs approach to politics and believe that it destroys all their goodaspects. I really hope Kaptaan delivers, if elected.

The law in Pakistan states No delimitations with out census but when it comes to Karachi nobody obeys law and to crush mohajir domination such acts becomes lawful
when the people running the shows bent on pushing a community to wall with such acts reply will be like this as well.
Oh forget to mention Mohajirs are also included in UN list of Ethnic Minorities facing State oppression and racism. Better stop such steps or UN would intervene like East Timor

If Benazir’s murder investigation can be done by UN then why ithis is such a big deal. Why quota system, domicile problem and delimitation of constituencies are limited to Sind/Karachi.

MQM has the lowest IQ as far as their leadership is concerned. In USA this kind of delimitation is done every few yrs. Recently this yr it was done in Cleveland Ohio .Political parties in Cleveland did not go to UN office in New York.
Shame on MQM and on their leadership who made this decision.Recommend

It’s a little early in the day to be disheartened. He is still going to win on his own. People of Pakistan are sick and tired of treachery and deceit by the old faces. He didn’t award tickets to Former Foreign Minister and even his own Cousin;whom he calls brother! Just wait and see.. It is time for change.

ofcourse, when you have courts ordering bias orders, ecp is only following JI mantra.. bulldozing all the rules of the game, set up in constitution.. this is the only choice Left.
I wonder who see a treason here, why were they didnt see treason in having UN investigate BB case?
if that is treason, then let it be… why do we care…did you even care for about balochistan?
let it be Treason, i have no worries.. even MQM has to go in the first place when they re-counted the voter.. they should have stopped that… as no body bothers to check any place else…Its always ONLY Karach- where JI fails-where pmln fails, where ppp fails..where every body fails..
and MUST fail..because they have never done a single thing for the Place.
They never owned it.. only Looted it.
good way to go-bravo MQM- especially all the praises for moving it silently…good work.

Delimitation of constituencies act 1974 section 10 says about the quota( population)
Quota per seat in respect of each Province/Area/Agency in the National Assembly has
    been determined as under:
Province/Area/Agency Population No. of Seats Quota per seat
    1 2 3 4
    N.W.F.P 17,735,912 35 17,735,912 ÷ 35 = 506,740
    F.A.T.As 3,176,331 12 3,176,331 ÷ 12 = 264,694
    Federal Capital 805,235 2 805,235 ÷ 2 = 402,618
    Punjab 73,621,290 148 73,621,290 ÷ 148 = 496,441
    Sindh 30,439,893 61 3,043,9893 ÷ 61 = 499,015
    Balochistan 6,565,885 14 6,565,885 ÷ 14 = 468,992

For the purpose of delimiting constituencies, the Commission may receive and consider

representations, hold inquiries, summon witnesses and record evidence, and shall prepare and
publish in the official Gazette a preliminary report and list of constituencies specifying the areas proposed to be included in each constituency. Under sub-section (2) of Section 10 of the Act, any person entitled to vote at an election to the National Assembly or a Provincial Assembly may, within fifteen days of the publication of the report, make a representation to the Commission in respect of the delimitation of constituencies published under sub-section (1) of Section 10 thereof. Under sub-section (3) of Section 10 ibid, the Commission shall, after hearing and considering the representations, if any, received by it, make such amendments, alterations or modifications, in the preliminary list published under sub-section (1) as it thinks fit or necessary, and shall publish in the official Gazette the final report and list of constituencies showing the areas included in each constituency.
conclusion can be deduced using own common sense. based on the legislation.

1- It is still one man one vote;MQM should abondone its ethnic approach and work for all people equally. Then they wont be worreid about delimitation.
2- They were praising ECP until this happened. They need to be fair.

What is the nitty gritty of delimitation, the geographic rules, common sense and logic, I don’t know, and I don’t want to know. However, this memorandum of appeal is in bad taste. Salams

@Abdullah khan: It is not a non issue. All anchors and analysts appear on Pakistan TV channels agree that MQM grumbling is justified. You remember Justice Fakhruddin, the Chief Election Commissioner himself admitted that he was against delimitation in Karachi.

Now the limitations after the electoral process has already started the delimitation will involve practical complications.
