Addressing a news conference at the Peshawar Press Club, cabinet representatives of PK-2 accused the party’s parliamentary board of leaving out veteran workers from the list of candidates suggested by PTI chief Imran Khan. They claimed the board has violated PTI’s constitution which states the District Parliamentary Board is to be consulted before the names of potential candidates is sent to the Central Parliamentary Board.
PK-2 Senior Vice President Waqar Sethi, who was accompanied by 11 union council representatives from Peshawar, alleged new entrants in the party were given preference over older candidates for allocation for party tickets. This, he added, has disappointed party activists.
PTI has announced the name of Peshawar District General Secretary Younas Zaheer Mohmand as its candidate for PK-2, overlooking PK-2 President Zahid Nadeem, who has been associated with the party for the past 10 years.

“We have asked the central leadership to reconsider their decision as the nominated candidate does not have the support of local influential families,” Sethi said, adding the party’s union council offices in PK-2 have also been shut down in protest.
