Former PSM chairman indicted in corruption scandal

Federal Anti-Corruption Court charges Moin Aftab and others accused with embezzling Rs22b.

Former Pakistan Steel Mills Chairman Moin Aftab has been indicted in a corruption scandal.


The federal Anti-Corruption Court has charged him and others accused with embezzling Rs22 billion.


The court led by judge Shaukat Memon resumed hearing the Steel Mills corruption case and indicted nine people.


Other than Moin Aftab, Brigadier Abdul Qayyum, Imtiaz-ul Hassan, Asghar Ali Farooq, Syed Zahid Ali Hashmi, Muhammad Aslam, Ali Haider and Najmuddin were indicted. The FIA had sought time to file the final challan in the case.


However counsel for Moin Aftab told the court over nine months had passed in between and therefore the interim challan should be considered as the final one.

Sultan Ahmed. | 13 years ago | Reply Oh my God, how much amount embezzled , God bless my country. Some time i fee as we are passing through along dark tunnel and there is no light at the end of it. We have seen ragging ocean, now hope will see coastal cool breeze.
