The rights and dignity of children living with disabilities should be respected, promoted and protected.

This was the crux of a seminar on “Disability and Inclusive Development”, organised by the Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) in collaboration with the Susan B Anthony Reading Room (SBARR).

Speakers emphasidsed on how the youth could play a role in highlighting the issues of disabled people and develop a society based on equity.

President of Saaya Association, Asim Zafar, declared that his association was a name of a movement in which persons with disabilities could find solutions to their problems.

“We believe in working and then making progress,” he said adding, “mobility is the basic problem of disabled people and if a person uses a wheelchair in our society, he cannot get education and job and this system must be done away with to facilitate special persons.”

Dr Muhammad Shah Nawaz, National Coordinator (Community Based Inclusive Development), discussed the issues of accessibility and engagement of persons with disabilities.

He asked the students to join the trainings offered by Saaya Association.
