Misbah told reporters on Thursday that he had instead decided to adopt a more aggressive and positive approach to batting after being criticised for his slow displays.
"I have discussed this with all my players and they all agreed that overall we all needed to be more positive while batting and put aside fears of losing our wicket," Misbah said.
"They have all pushed me to play more shots and be more positive. I have no intentions of returning to play T20s for Pakistan. I have changed my batting style because I believe I can continue to play ODIs which I don't want to quit now."
Misbah, 38, who has been Pakistan's test captain since 2010 and ODI skipper since 2011, has come in for criticism in Pakistan for his batting and captaincy after his side were swamped 3-0 in the test series in South Africa and lost the one-day series 3-2.
"I have heard what the critics have had to say. It has fired me up and also made me reassess how I can play a more purposeful role for my team as a batsman and for myself," he said.

bravo misbah.it takes a big heart to acknowledge your mistakes and decide to improve. u have proven this in the 4th odi.that is the kind of leader we want to see in you and we have complete faith that this would change the over-all defensive demeanour of the team.all the best for the champions trophy :)
He is one of the best captains - we need him there.
Test matches are conducted so a team learns from its mistake. The Captain has to make the ODI team better from test experience. Kindly remove Misbah from the team! he is a bad captain. In test series Afridi didn’t play at all. Still a total White wash with extra soap. All cause of Misbah bad strategies. Hafiz was captain of T20 and you could see the difference in the team body language. So I would like to request the Editor to kindly rewrite with true facts of the bigger picture. not target a legend player whos name is enough for the competing team. And putting loss burden on Afridi??
He and Afridi are age fellows but one has managed to hide it. I will request PCB to get rid of the following players in Odi's at least. :
Kamran Akmal Shahid Afridi Younis Khan Imran Farhat Sarfraz Ahmed Wahab RiazWhy should Misbah quit? He's the only batsman who performed with any consistency in the ODI series. Without him, this batting lineup isn't good enough to even score a 100 runs.
Only in Pakistan would the team's best ODI batsman be put under pressure to quit while non-performing relokattas like Shahid Afridi are given an unlimited, free ride. Guess it helps to have the Karachi media behind you.
Poor Misbah. Life would have been a lot easier if he was from Karachi.
There will be loads of comments criticising Misbah’s decision. However, we have to see hat sort of quality new batsman. If someone is following current domestic T20 competition, there were only three notable performances with bat, one by Sohaib Malik, a century by Hafeez and today’s Misbah performance where he scored 80 of 47 balls. There was no other notable performance by any batsman. As Hafeez said yesterday, we have to make quality pitches to get quality batsman. There seems to be no challenge for the places in the national team, no notable batsman coming forward presenting challenge to existing line up!!!
Misbah is very fit. His 38 years age is real. So please let him continue. We have critics dime a dozen.
