Lord Nazir took responsibility for his comments stating they were “completely wrong” and “unacceptable”, and also apologised to the Jewish community, to the judiciary and the newspaper owners, the report added.
In an interview to Huffington Post, Lord Nazir said that he had “the greatest respect” for the Jewish community and was “not anti-Semitic”.
He also said that he did not have any explanation or excuse for his remarks, and conceded that some Muslims “cross the line between Israeli government policies and Jewish policies”.
“As far as I am concerned, we [Muslims] don’t have any problem with the [Jewish] faith,” he was further quoted by the Huffington Post.
Earlier this month, The Times newspaper said Lord Nazir, who was jailed for dangerous driving after sending text messages shortly before the accident, had attributed his prison sentence on pressure placed on British courts by Jews “who own newspapers and TV channels”.
Britain’s Labour Party had suspended him over his remarks. He was appointed Britain’s first Muslim peer in 1998.

Islam once in the distant past were led by men of vision, men who at the very least did things that helped their citizens acquire knowledge and enlightenment and make advances in science and technology. Today's Muslim world is led by minions, Lilliputians who are nothing but self serving megalomaniacs, who will say anything and do anything as long as it serves their narrow cause and keeps their followers sucking up for more of same. Lord Ahmed is a classic example of this phenomenon.

Of course he has Freedom of Speech. You don't see him getting arrested! However, any action has a consequence, and he is not immune to those. He is not getting any death threats, and Israelis aren't out on the streets demanding his head on a pike.

They're feudal English titles and not much of an issue. While I'm queasy about the use of 'Lord' (like referring to Pakistani judges), it translates from English to Urdu more in terms of 'Nawab' or 'Sardar' rather than 'Rab', which is commonly religiously translated from Arabic/Urdu to 'Lord'.

The irony of the 'taqiyya' accusation is that it was once, and still is, used against persecuted Shia Muslims by Sunni hardliners in power to demonize the community as not being forthcoming, but now its apparently hypocritically practiced by some jihadist extremists, leading to an allegation against all Western Muslim communities by non-Muslim right-wing bigots.

I'm not surprised by Nazir's twisted conspiratorial nonsense to ridiculously explain away his own faults. It simply highlights the unaccountability, deranged stupidity and bigoted beliefs among our own population, and it is not surprising that corruption and extremism flourishes.
Can he not drag Islam or Muslims into it? "we muslims" You are not our pope, most Muslims in the world do not know who you are, and they are lucky people (unfortunately us British Asians do) he really is a politician, deflecting the blame onto others. Well he was wrong to have called his sentence a "jewish conspiracy" and I am no supporter of this man....but being totally impartial, even if he said it, was he not allowed 'freedom of speech'?
