LAHORE: Newton Hall and Patiala People’s Library buildings at the King Edward Medical University (KEMU) will be restored under the Dilkash Lahore project, DCO Noorul Amin Mengal said on Wednesday.

The government would bear half the cost of restoring the two buildings, both over a century old, and the KEMU administration would cover the remaining cost, he said while visiting the university.

The works and services department would start the restoration work soon, he said.  KEMU vice chancellor Faisal Masood and the Works and Services EDO were also present at the occasion.

Masood said an underpass would be constructed to link the university with Newton Hall. It would be named after Mengal, he said.
