Murder and suicide: Three killed in separate incidents

BAHRAIN/ MATTA:

Two peace militia members were shot dead while another was injured when unidentified assailants opened fire at them in Shakar Dara on Tuesday night.  According to Matta police, members of the village defence committee were on duty when they were attacked.

Two young men, identified as Shaukat Ali and Zakirullah, were killed on the spot while another sustained injuries.  The injured was rushed to Saidu Teaching hospital where he was reported to be out of danger. Police have launched a search operation and have filed an FIR against the gunmen.

In a separate incident, a 16-year-old girl committed suicide by jumping into the Swat River at Darolai, Bahrain teshil on Wednesday. According to Bahrain police, the girl’s motivations have not yet been discerned and her body was recovered by locals after a tedious search. According to local sources, she was engaged to be married, but it is unclear whether this had any bearing on her decision to take her own life.
