Khan will most likely be up against Sheikh Rasheed from the Awami Muslim League for the NA-156, while Saad Rafique of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz will be the main contender for NA-126.
PTI to contest all seats from Karachi
The PTI also decided to contest the upcoming election from all the seats in Karachi, according to a statement from the PTI Central Media Cell on Wednesday.
It said that the local leadership has been asked to obtain and submit nomination papers on time. The decision regarding the party's tickets would be made soon, it further added.
Central Deputy Secretary General Imran Ismail asked PTI leaders from Karachi and interior Sindh to leave no constituency vacant and to submit nomination papers in consultation with the newly elected district presidents, tehsil and town office bearers.
Meanwhile, certain PTI members have submitted their nomination papers for National Assembly seats:
1. NA-250 Karachi, Dr Arif Alvi and Najeeb Haroon
2. NA-239, Subhan Ali Sahil and Syed Hafizuddin
3. NA-252, Ali Zaidi
4. NA-251 Zubair Khan
5. NA-241 Dr Saeed Afridi
6. NA-245 Riaz Haider
7. NA-240 Syed Hafizuddin

IK possesses true leadership essence for the peoples of Pakistan, a hope in the darkness.
@zsaigal: Highly impressed with your thoughtful comments. Yes sure this is the case.
i am from peshawar NA 1 and my vote is for IK.... peshawar me IK ki seat pakki hy...
I have been reading these comments since the day this news has come. Unfortunately anti- PTI trolls having now knowledge of how electoral system works, have made it a point to put a bad name to the party.
You can contest from multiple seats. You are allowed by law so nothing wrong here. ZA Bhutto, Benazir Bhutto, PMLN leaders have all contested from multiple seats. Reason to increase the chances of winning seats which is the point in elections.
A leader only contests from constituency from which he has chances of winning ... its as simple as that ... All PMLN supporters defaming him from contesting from 'easy' constituency can please explain, if NS would ever contest from Larkana or Karachi ??
I guess people in all their biasedness against IK have lost all their sense to question and think rationally ... However, unfortunately for them IK is going to win this time around !!
I wish he has run from Karachi as well.
So am I the supporter of IK from NA-1
@Shuweikh Haqqani: I think NA56 is correct.
lve u IK my vote is yours ..... GA Imran
why is asad umer not contesting from karachi :s
Very smart move from the King Khan to contest Elections from four constituencies. I am a citizen of NA 1 Peshawar. and i will vote PTI. I request you all Peshawariooo, Please think different this time around. Go and take as much as people to the polling stations and vote for PTI.
IK cant win from NA-126 Lahore and NA-1 Peshawar. In 2002, Liaqat Baloch (JI) has been MNA from 126 and Shabbir Ahmed Khan (JI) has been MNA from NA-1. Both are the most popular leaders of their constituencies. Also, both constituencies are stronghold of JI.
Thank You SAMAN.Inshallah IK and PTI will sweep the election.
Sorry to say that you are not aware of the ground reality.IK will win inshallah from all seats.@Khan:
Contesting eletions froms four seats proves that Imran Khan himself is not sure of his victory..
He's going to win all four seats inshallah! God Bless him and the public is with him!
I am from Lahore..i can bet imran khan will win from here.Lahore has tremendous support for PTI.
congratulation to pti, who has already lost 8 seats which are being contested by sir IK and shah mehmood four each
we will contest from N-league strong hold areas and show them they are not strong any more. vote is only for PTI
@Bilal: PTI wants to show that IK is popular everywhere in the country.
We are with PTI and Imran Khan -------------------PTI all the way .
Two matches b interesting pind and lahore.
Ok. Some ignorants are interpreting the fact that IK is contesting from 4 constituencies as a sign of being unsure of winning. Obviously such people constitute what you call drawingroom/internet political analysts. If a candidate wins 2 seats, that counts as 2 seats won by the party for the purposes of forming a government. SO, if IK wins all 4 seats, it means that its 4 PTI seats for the purposes of making a government.
Nawaz Sharif or Shahbaz should challenge Khan in their home base and contest Imran Khan!
No one should be allowed to contest election from more than one seat. What is the purpose of doing this?
Pls vote for PTI if you want to seen ANY change in your lives, otherwise you all know the outcome.
@R A: It is 400%
Seems a joke to me...
If he is really that much honest in allocation of tickets to party holder, than he must not have four different constituencies to contest from. Pity on the supporters of a leader who is not completely certain of his own strength. Moreover, he has shown nothing new while contesting for the election using same old tactics.
So why has Mr IK not decided to contest elections from Larkana the ppp stronghold or karachi the mqm stronghlod? It became clear he is backed by the army the day he withdrew his case from the scotland yard which he boasted about alot, against the mqm chief. Where did that got? he promised that he'l be very nice to the people and never lie to them few days back.I am personally a big fan of imran khan too but this is history repeating itself. If they form the next government, they will also have problems when the army tells them they will be the major decision makers of the country on issues like foreign policy for instance and then we'l have the whole civil-military paralyses again. PML N was heading for a major victory in the upcoming elections if there was no pti. The result of PTIs best win would be a hung parliament where ppp, pti, pmln and other small parties will have somewhat equal seats in the national assembly which makes it easy for the army to manipulate again. We need to see where we are coming from. Its a game.
Why contest from 4 places, insecure?!
@azmat shah nawaz sharif is contesting from NA-120 lahore..if IK has decided to contest election from lahore why not contest it from NA-120??it was him who announced it on tv na..
Hanif Abbasi the main contender in NA-56. But as he was involved in Ephiderine corruption scandal. So This seat will also be IK's.
Contesting elections from multiple areas doesn't mean that he not feeling safe. It only means that IK wants to use his X factor to win as many seats himself as he can. He will then leave more secure seats to be won in by elections by his party. Every wise political person will do this.
He is obviously not sure if he will win from ones seat. Though not against the law, he is disrupting elections by doing this.Supposing he wins from all seats. Then there will have be by elections for three seats which he will resign. That is subverting democracy.
If Imran Khan needs 4 different constituencies to ensure 1 victory what hope do other PTI candidates have ? Total waste of seats and constituencies by PTI.
Correction and confirmation that Imran Khan is not contesting from NA-56 Rawalpindi.
In Mianwali Imran Khan is playing the ethnic card otherwise He has no chance to win. Anyway I have visited some places in Mianwali and It is a pure Ethnic based politics by PTI and that is very very sad and Niazis and so called Khans are supporting Imran Khan while others are supporting PMLN. The changing factor will be Awans of Mianwali as they are in thousands but they dont support Imran Khan in that constituency as PTI is using Ethnic card to garner votes.
Javed Afridi: Would you please correct yourself? When people choose multiple constituencies, its not because they are not sure where they'd win from, its because they are sure they'd win from all of em. Mr. Javed Hashmi won three seats in last elections, was he confused? Was he unsure of which constituency he might win from? Please talk sense!
Imran destroy the forces of evil and deception. A progressive modern Pakistan is required. Vote for PTI to change your own destiny
@Javed Afridi Actually it doesn't work that way. He is contesting from maximum seats because he is sure he will win all four. Then when he withdraws his name from that seat the win for follow up candidate will be guaranteed. Its simple
@Azmat Shah:
NS has been cleared to contest from NA-120 and NA-123. Now then, I expect IK to announce his candidature against NS tomorrow. Will he do it? I for one feel that IK would want to loose gracefully against an opponent of his own stature or beyond (to NS, IK is still a nobody BTW). I have my serious doubts that IK would risk having his Soonama Myth dismantled at the hands of someone like Hanif Abbasi in NA-56. In IK's own backyard of NA-71, the Shadikhel's are almost certain to be inducted in PML-N in the coming days who command a formidable electoral strength in their neck of the woods. The withdrawal of Malik Ammad of PPP in favor of IK/PTI (Muk Muka) would certainly give an edge to IK for Malik Ammad and his group also have a substantial vote bank here. All in all the battle between the Shadikhels and IK/Malik Ammad/PPP alliance would be a very close contest.
Imran khan will NOT win his seat PPP and pmln aill unite and spend every penny they have to defeat him
Those who are criticising IK are either naive, or PMLN supports. This is a clear move from IK. He is trying to contest in maximum strongholds of other parties, cause he is the best candidate PTI has, and can give a fight to the opponents. Also, even if he has to vacate the winning seats; it is a fact that the by-elections are won 90% by the same party candidate.
i am from na-126 and my vote is for imran khan
na 126 FOR THE WIN INSHA - ALLAH, GARDEN TOWN WILL VOTE FOR IMRAN KHAN!
Imran Khan to contest elections from four NA seats
Why? Is he not confident of contesting one and winning it?
Let us for a moment concede, he wins all. He can retain only one. Which means there will have to be elections again in the remaining 3 seats. Which would involve a lot of unnecessary expenses for the Government and the political parties. This does not sound very rational to me.Specially coming from a person who claims to feel for the common man.
Guys, we have to understand the strategy and shrewdness behind running from 4 constituencies. Remember, IK announced that he will give 25% seats to youth. Now contesting from 4 seats, his average age on all will be around 60/4=15 yrs which definitely shows that he gave tickets to youth and yet to pass matriculation in politics ;)
Those who know the history would tell you that JI (Jamaat-e-Islami) is a party which has promoted intolerance in the name of religion and destroyed our society communally. Before that most of religious parties were limited to sects, with limited numbers of followers and limited madrassas. Whereas, JI targeted the conventional colleges and universities and polluted the future intelligencia and establishment of Pakistan. Very successfully it used religion as a commodity for political manipulation and vested interests. Those who have gone to Pakistani colleges in 60s to 80s had witnessed the intolerance and fascism of JI on the name of Islam. Just like other pseudo-religious parties, JI exploited the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan by fooling America and Saudia. The “Jihad” business was so profitable that many other groups also started to benefit from the situation. Their dirty games have been exposed many times but some people still get fooled from their Islamic rhetoric. They may not be directly involved in terrorist activities but most of them have the same extremist ideology. No one will able to stop intolerance, bigotry and injustice to marginalized Pakistanis if he or she is partnering with a party which has extremist ideology like JI. Good Luck to Imran Khan and his supporters for partnering with JI.
I see two Muslim Candidates... Please no more divisions dear@Syed:
wow my election cont na126
Now that's a Brave move to Challenge all by One man...
So it seems like they have two Shia candidates from Karachi. Are the Shias of Karachi now supporting PTI?
@faisal: IK has announced his constituency. Its up to Nawaz Sharif now to challenge him there as IK doesnt know the constituency NS is thinking of contesting from. Where is NS contesting from by the way
Why from four seats ? Is he only 25% sure of victory ?
I feel sorry for Bilor in NA-1. After railway fiasco he is gone. Imran Khan we are your voters in NA-1
why dont IK contest election against nawaz sharif from lahore as he announced earlier???tsunami khan afraid of defeat???????
i will consider IK lucky if he even wins 1 out of these 4 seats..while peshawar, pindi n lahore are no chance for IK...mianwali is his only chance..this shows his confidence that he is contesting from 4 constituencies..:)
I am sure of the success of Imran Khan. He must contest from all constituencies.
PPP won 3 out of the 5 NA seats from Peshawar..@BILAL IZAT:
@Sheikh: He can only win from Mianwali at the most, his native town.
very smart move by imran khan as contest from four major cities and lead pti from front and try to support other pti candidates in these cities.
Poor strategy in case he wins all 4 seats..then PTI will be hard pressed to complete the 172 required for simple majority...wait for the Qureshis, Tareens and Hashmis as well...they will all contest from multiple constituencies....Game over for PTI before it began...
@HasBeen: BB lost in 1990 in an election which the supreme court says was stolen....the same Bilour was beaten by Sherpao in 1988...
For the information of you who think that contesting from more than one constituency is a sign of lack of confidence, Nawaz Sharif, and Benazir Bhutto, both 2 time Prime Ministers have contested from multiple constituencies in the past, even when Nawaz Sharif swept clean the whole of Panjab and got his so called 2/3rd majority. So it’s not a new thing. You cannot use a different yardstick for Imran Khan if that is the case
@abcde: It means beating the Shers and the likes in their Strongholds, not because he is unsure - It is because he is actually sure and confident. Now interestingly, if other parties change their candidates from these will mean how scared they are - but they don't have any better.
I am your voter from one of these constituencies. We will surprise people with turn out. Today is my best day and I am happy that we will be your voters. Change is coming folks.Bhutto fielded from many seats in 1970 and won all. Once a party win from a contintuency then it is next to impossible that the other party can defeat it. Good move Imran Khan.
@Bilal: Punjab dictates which party wins, so the mqm and ppp can keep sindh
Great strategy.... Will carry the ripples from Peshawar to Lahore!
Imran Khan is a one man army who lacks suitable candidates to win seats for his party has no other alternative but to indulge in this gimmick.
my vote iz for IK.
NA 1 Peshawar is my hometown. COME ON Peshawario, it is time to SELECT the right person than PPP/ANP, and we all know how they have been .
Take as much people as you can and VOTE ON THE POLLING DAY.
PTI, this time.
Sh Rasheed has been a good spoke person for PTI - unpaid. Atleast IK shd not come in NA56. He should stand against NS and only in two area not 4. is he afraid of his own seat too?
Imran is destine of crushing defeat from every constituency .
This is not from someone who is confident about his prospects, on the other hand it is kinda move from someone who is not sure, bordering desperation.
Guys why would Peshawries support Bilower when they already know that he is a corrupt man and was responsible for the bankruptcy of Pak Railways? Its Naya Pakistan therefore forget "mini-Larkanas" like terms and think logically.
If PMLN couldn't get Rokharis on board then Mianwali seat is confirmed for IK. Rawalpindi seat looks highly unlikely for PTI beacuse of Haneef Abbasi's grass-roots politics. In NA1, Bilor family might get away because of sympathy vote. Lahore seat is currently PMLN stronghold but it will be tough to beat IK if Omer Sohail Zia Butt is given ticket again. I wonder why is he not contesting from Sindh/Balochistan.
Best of luck Khan
Lol can't wait for IK to lose to Saad Rafique. Should serve as an interesting wake up call to PTI. Reality is a few degrees different to what the Insaf Student Federation would like to think.
Height of desperation !!!!!
So much for fielding young candidates and so called tsunami ...lol
Imran Khan! my Vote is for you!! u will win from NA-126 Lahore!! I wont let u lose!!
@longislander: After a long time Karachiest have got an option to get themselves out of MQM mesmerism, if we do not grab this opportunity than we have no right to rue our misery. Come on Karachi vote for change, vote for Pakistan, vote for PTI, my vote is for PTI
@Agnostic Khan, Sir Mini Larkana of PPP, where BB lost to Bilour? ANyway I dont think this is authentic news, the names have not yet been announced. Both here and in Dawn the story is full of errors, someone pointed out already about Peshawar and Pindi seats. Also Saad Rafique contests from NA 125 (Defence/Cavalry Ground/Walton) not from NA 126 (Gulberg/MOdel Town etc)
@PakArmySoldier:
He'll have to vacate three seats even if he does win all four. And then in the bye elections, he'll lose them. So the only logic here is that he's unsure of winning from one sure seat.
Bravo khan sahab... Inshallah you will win all 4 seats...
here comes the tiger, sheeps will hide themself under the banner of corrupted parties but still tiger will prey all and will be declared as king very soon,INSHA ALLAH best of luck MR. KHAN ,my vote for PTI
This a very shrewd move. People who say otherwise do not understand politics. He's the most popular candidate in the PTI, it is only logical for him to contest elections from multiple constituencies to optimize the result in favor of PTI.
If NA 1 is min larkakan for PPP then why did it loose to ANP in the last elections? Insha Allah PTI will win all 4 seats from Peshawar
PTI is unable to muster enough candidates and their leader is unsure of his winning...........so to fill the gaps he is running from so many constituencies, on other hand he is also making seat adjustments where he cannot find the candidates to save his face.............and yet PTI will sweep the elections........................clean
Well it will be nice to see him lose at all 4 places,May his fears come true.
and i won't be surprised if he wins all of these. Mianwali; a confirm seat, Lahore; most likely, Pindi; a very good chance, Peshwar; a confirm one too. best of luck IK and PTI. we are with you.
Kindly correct...It is NA-1 Peshawar-I as far as i know since i belong to that constituency..i Would say no chance from NA-1.Its mini Larkana for PPP and I expect a close contest between PPP and ANP....Best of luck for other constituencies...
LOL.. claiming to be most popular leader..n contesting in four constituencies because he is scared of losing..he has left the sindh for PPP n MQM.. wat a loser!!
It will be extremely interesting to compete in the strongholds of other parties - the results of these will ensure how far PTI can go overall in politics
I'd say that the Mianwali and Peshawar seats are definitely his, maybe even the Lahore one..
Naya Pakistan. Insha Allah!
God speed
Come on Karachi, my beloved city, please choose PTI this time. Say no to MQM after 24 years. They have not done anything in the past. They will not do anything better in the future. Infact they won't be able to do anything good for Karachi. They are involved in these gang wars.
Good selection by IK. He has chosen key constituencies and will probably win out against his more entrenched rivals.
Kindly correct the mistake
KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan will contest elections from NA-1 (Peshawar-II), NA-56 (Rawalpindi-VII), NA-71 (Mianwali-I), NA-126 (Lahore-IX), according to party spokesperson Shafqat Mehmood, Dawn.com reported. Khan will most likely be up against Sheikh Rasheed from the Awami Muslim League for the NA-156
Tsunami khan was suppose to sweep the general elections, but now, he ain't sure of the constituency, he can definitely win from.
Finally some good news for Rawalpindi from IK corner!! My vote is for you Mr.Khan!
