Female school teacher gunned down in Khyber Agency

She was shot thrice in the upper parts of body, says political administration.

Earlier, multiple aid workers and teachers were killed in the Khyber Agency.

A female teacher of a community school was gunned down by unknown militants in Shakas area of Jamrud, a subdivision in Khyber Agency, in the early hours of Tuesday.

Political administration official of Jamrud, Asmatullah Wazir, said that two unknown armed men, travelling on a motorbike, intercepted the teacher in one of the street in Shah Kas and opened fire injuring her severely at around 9am.

He further added that the teacher identified as Shahnaz was on her way to the Girl Communal School, a community primary school established by Malik Khanwali.

Wazir also said that after the incident, Malik along with his Khasadar personnel shifted the teacher to Hayatabad Medical Complex in his ambulance and reported the event to the political administration official.


“The teacher was rushed to the operation theatre for surgery, however, after three hours of struggle she died. She was shot thrice in the upper parts of her body,” Wazir said and explained that the teacher Shahnaz was the daughter of Ishtiaq, a resident of Ganj area inside the walled city.

Wazir said that the body was handed over to the father and relatives.

Shahnaz wasn’t the first victim that was targeted in the troubled area adjacent to the Peshawar city. Earlier, multiple aid workers and teachers were killed in the Khyber Agency.

Earlier in October 2012, a 15-year-old schoolgirl from Swat valley, Malala Yousafzai, was shot in the head by the Taliban for advocating girls' education.
