KRL held by Army in football league

KARACHI: Defending champions Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) drew 1-1 against last year’s finalists Pakistan Army in their third match of the Pakistan Premier Football League in Rawalpindi on Monday.

In a closely-fought match, KRL successfully took the lead in the 57th minute when captain Samar Ishaq slotted past Army goalkeeper Jafar Khan. Army remained in deficit until their midfielder Muhammad Shabbir scored the equaliser in the 71st minute to take the game towards an exciting finish as it ended in a draw.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Air Force (PAF) also drew against Pakistan Navy 0-0 in Peshawar. Navy, still looking for their first win in the competition, came close but international midfielder Nomi Martin Gill missed the opportunity, sending the ball wide after the referee awarded a penalty in the 87th minute.

Afghan FC emerge  victorious

In another match, Afghan FC came from behind to win against Nushki Baloch Club 2-1. The home team conceded the opener in the first half but recovered well as winger Jumma Khan scored an equaliser in the 51st minute and midfielder Abdul Nasir sealed the 2-1 victory in the 71st minute.
