Observing Pakistan Day, hundreds of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) activists marched through the streets of the capital starting from their headquarters in G-9 and culminating at the National Press Club.

“This rally was held like it is every year to demonstrate our love for Pakistan and our commitment to bringing peace and stability to our country,” said a rally participant. Holding aloft national flags, the marchers crammed the streets of Islamabad.

“Together, we will have to work towards pulling our country out of its current state of instability,” ASWJ Punjab president Maulana Shamsur Rehman Muawiya told participants at the rally. He claimed that his organisation had always been a supporter of peace and stability.

Condemning the ethnic and religious intolerance that sparks sectarian violence, Muawiya said ‘political sectarianism’ should also end. “ASWJ will participate in the upcoming election from the Mutahida Deeni Mahaz (MDM) platform and will be successful.”
