According to the schedule, the returning officer will issue a public notice by March 23 and candidates can file nomination papers with the returning officer from March 24-29.
The ECP directed officers of the Election Commission and the returning officers to keep offices open on March 23 and 24.
Scrutiny of the candidates will be done from March 30 to April 5.
From April 6 to 9, the candidates and their opponents can file appeals, which will be reviewed by the tribunals until April 16.
Any candidate can be disqualified from contesting the elections until April 17 and final list of candidates, who will be contesting the elections, will be issued on March 18. Following that, the ECP has allotted 22 days to the election candidates for the election campaign and general elections 2013 will be held on May 11.

hope these elections can bring a possitve change in Pakistan and its the responsibilty of every citizen to cast their votes.
Six days are enough for scrutiny of candidates. We "the voters" should also feel some responsibilty and vote only good people. Leaving everything on election commssion is not a mature attitude.

One week for verifying nomination papers? Is it a joke with the nation? Checking the veracity of tax declarations, incomes and assets, degrees and criminal records of tens of thousands of candidates in so few a days is not humanly possible. What is therefore going to happen (and what is probaly desired by this act in the first place) is not to allow the ECP any time to properly scrutinize the applications and let all the fraudsters, crooks and criminals pass through. This clear election rigging immediately needs to be challenged in courts.

I would appreciate if the Election Commission should issue guidelines for the information of the general public through electronic and print media, as who can contest election and who cannot?
This will not only provide basis information, but it will also help the voters to make up their minds.
A comprehensive list of all polling stations would be necessary so that people residing at an particular area should know where they have to go and cast their votes.
Furthermore, the ECP should also advice to the voters as if old NIC's would also be valid or not?
Or only a person having a CNIC would be eligible to cast his/her vote in 2013 elections.
