Pakistan Ambassador to Germany Abdul Basit has expressed the hope that the message of peace that originated in Munster with the Westphalia Peace Treaty in 1648 spreads out to the entire world, for all countries and for all people.

He penned these remarks in the Golden Book placed in the historical Hall of Peace where the famous Westphalia Peace Treaty was signed in 1648, said a statement on Thursday.

He visited the Hall of Perace accompanied by the Lord Mayor of Munster Marcus Lewe.

Later in the day Basit attended a fundraising ceremony for the flood hit people of Pakistan.

“As long as human beings have the ability to transcend their national prejudices in times of natural disasters, there is hope for humanity,” he told participants at an event organised by the Humanity Care Foundation in Munster.

The foundation extended humanitarian assistance to Pakistan for the 2005 earthquake and 2010-11 floods.
