Road mishaps: Three killed, 27 injured in separate accidents

Two vehicles careen into ravines, pick-up and car collide.

PARACHINAR/ BATKHELA: A woman was killed and 19 others were injured in two separate road accidents in Kurram Agency on Wednesday.

An official of the political administration from Sadda, Kurram Agency said a vehicle carrying army officials was en route to Parachinar from Sadda when it plunged into a deep ravine near Samir in the afternoon.

Eleven personnel were injured; eight were shifted to Parachinar Headquarters Hospital, according to the official. Sharbat Khan, Iran Badshah and Muhammad Ilyas – who were critically injured – were shifted to Kohat.

In another accident 30 minutes after the army vehicle plunged into the ravine, a passenger pick-up and car collided in Mahora Village.

A woman from the Shablan village was killed and eight Kurram tribesmen were severely injured in the accident.



The political administration official said the wounded were taken to the hospital in Parachinar Headquarters, Upper Kurram. The critically injured were later referred to hospitals in Kohat and Peshawar.

Malakand

Two people were killed and eight severely injured when a passenger van skidded and fell into a ravine in Bosaaq, Totakan Wednesday afternoon.

A levies official said residents from Bosaaq informed the levies about a road accident at approximately 2pm. The official rushed to the site with six more levies personnel for rescue work.

The official said locals had already started helping the victims when he reached the site. They had pulled out two bodies from the overturned van, while the injured were lying by the roadside. “We hired passenger vehicles to shift the injured to the hospital.”

An aged women and driver, Naik Zamin, died on the spot and their bodies were taken to the Headquarters Hospital in Batkhela.

According to the passengers, they were en route to Bajaur Agency from Totakan when the vehicle skidded on the road and the driver was unable to control it from falling into the ravine.
