An official of the political administration said several militants attacked levies personnel, who were residing in the Gulab Marble Factory around five kilometres west of headquarters, around midnight.
The official added security and levies personnel retaliated the attack, forcing the militants to flee.
The injured official was identified as Malik Jan. Forces launched a search operation in the surrounding areas after the incident.
Around 50 tribesmen were arrested under the collective responsibility clause of the Frontier Crimes Regulation.
The suspects were shifted to political headquarters in Khar where an investigation is underway.
