Flower power: Floral decoration at its finest

In the finale, the FASP members showcased their floral arrangements.

A select number of florists showcased their creativity at an exhibition at the Turkish embassy on Tuesday. Titled “Evolution in Floral Art”, a presentation was also screened at the event, said a press release.


Floral Art Society of Pakistan (FASP) Islamabad Chapter Advisor Farhana Azim led the audience through the pictorial presentation, talking about the origin of flower arrangement and the various influences that effected its evolution.

She said though floral art is typically associated to women’s domain, some men are also celebrated as internationally-acclaimed floral designers. She named some of the grand masters of floral arts as Araik Galstan, Pim Van Den Akker, Alison Bradley and Gregor Lersch.

In the finale, the FASP members showcased their floral arrangements. The displays ranged from traditional to the modern sculptured sculpted designs, using fresh flowers, plant material, screens and frames, applying techniques and creating innovative designs that left the audience mesmerised. The floral artists at the event were: Asma Ansari, Nageen Malik, Wiqarunnisa Boolani, Sarwat Aslam ,Ghazala Abdullah, Aisha Zahid and Humera Baber. The presentation was organised by the Asian Study Group in collaboration with the Turkish Embassy.
