KARACHI: Disgruntled at the attitude of the Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF), former world number 16 Farhan Mehboob complained over the lack of payments that have been due to him for over 16 months.

Farhan, who clinched the CAS Open, said that he is yet to receive a Rs100,000 bonus that he was promised. Irfan Asghar was the PSF secretary when Farhan beat Mansoor Zaman in the final. The official was replaced by Abdul Wahab Marwat few weeks later but the players are still waiting for their prize money. Farhan said that the runner-up was entitled to get Rs50,000 as well.

“I’m yet to receive my reward as per the PSF’s rule of business for winning the 2011 CAS Open,” Farhan told The Express Tribune. “More than a year has passed but the PSF is yet to give me the money.”

When contacted, PSF Secretary Abdul Wahab Marwat said the federation was facing a financial crunch. “We’re doing a lot more for the promotion of the sport,” said Marwat. “We’re even sponsoring the players for the Professional Squash Association events. Players just need to come to us with their problems.”
