ISLAMABAD: The country’s poll commission has invited all political outfits to send their representatives to its secretariat in Islamabad next week for the allotment of election symbols.

A statement issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday said that a meeting of the commission will be held on Tuesday to allot the symbols in this regard.

Political parties have already applied for symbols to contest the upcoming general elections.

According to the statement, if a political party does not attend the ECP meeting, it has the right to allot the party a symbol in the light of preferences shown by that party in its application.

An ECP official said parties will be given priority if they apply for a symbol that they have already contested elections with earlier.
