ISLAMABAD: The Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) has begun review of the proposal to apply 5 to 6 per cent value added tax on 20 goods in the upcoming federal budget.
The FBR has proposed VAT on 3 different levels after opposition by stakeholders on a 15 per cent overall tax.
The new proposal applies to the 3rd schedule basket of goods. If this proposal goes through, households will see increase in value added tax on fruit juices, ice cream, tobacco, toiletries and cosmetics.
