Accident: Two injured in gas explosion

A woman and her daughter were severely injured when fire erupted in their house due to a gas leakage.

KARAK: A woman and her daughter were severely injured when fire erupted in their house due to a gas leakage in Karak district on Thursday.

Abdul Khaliq, a resident of Kandah village, said his wife was preparing breakfast for his 10-year-old daughter Rabia when a blast occurred after she lit a match.

Khaliq added the roof of the house caved in, trapping his wife and daughter. They were later rescued by people living in the the neighbourhood.

“My wife and daughter received burn injuries and were wounded when the roof caved in,” he said, adding they were rushed to district headquarters hospital in critical condition.

Doctors at the hospital stated they would refer both victims to the burns unit in Peshawar on Friday.
